Great Personal Leaders are not made overnight. The Giant Sequoia Redwood tree starts out as a tiny seed weighing approximately 1/3000 of an ounce before growing gradually over time into the largest of all the world's trees. These giants of nature are also the oldest trees known to man and take literally thousands of years to grow to the heights and size seen in the picture below. These trees required regular portions of sunlight and moisture to achieve such massive growth.
All of us are also like the Giant Sequoia-we are capable of so much when we are born. But, unlike the Giant Sequoia, the nourishment we all need does not come automatically. Just as we must take the responsibility to feed our physical bodies everyday, we must also feed our minds everyday if we are to become better leaders. To master Personal Leadership, you must commit to daily feeding your mind with material that is positive and educational.
The purpose of the monthly newsletter is to provide a portion of this nourishment. In addition to reading the newsletter each month, we encourage a daily program of feeding your mind through reading good books, listening to educational audio programs, and watching and surfing worthwhile programs and websites on television and the internet. There is so much good out there to be learned and applied to make your life more fulfilling. Don't rob yourself of it because of failure to take action.
You now have one days' worth of mental food. As the ruler of your own world, you are now responsible for the rest of the month. Don't abdicate the throne on this key discipline to your success. For ideas of where to start as you begin designing your daily mental nourishment regiment, click here.
